Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists and Kitchen Rules are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- When you ask the AI to read or adapt a recipe, that recipe is sent to our AI provider to do the job. We don’t keep it, and it isn’t used to train AI models.
- Your allergies and diets are never sent to our crash reporting or analytics.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, no advertising IDs, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.
- You can export everything, and delete everything, from inside the app.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Ajimi is made by Launchable Ventures LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company in the United States (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Ajimi app for iPhone and Android and this website, getajimi.com. Questions: [email protected].
2. What stays on your phone
These are stored on your device and are not sent to us:
- your saved recipes, your own versions of them, notes and photos you add
- your Kitchen Rules: allergies, foods someone avoids, diet goals, and the names you give household members
- meal plans and shopping lists
If you delete the app, or use Profile → Data & Privacy → Delete all my data, they are gone. We can’t recover them, because we never had them.
3. What leaves your phone, and why
AI recipe reading and adapting (Google Gemini API)
When you ask Ajimi to read a recipe from a link, a video, a photo or text, or to adapt a recipe, the recipe content and the photo you picked are sent to Google’s Gemini API. For an adaptation, we also send the labels of the rules involved, such as “dairy-free”, but never your name or the names of household members. Google uses the request only to answer it. It doesn’t use it to train its models, under its paid API terms. It may keep requests for a limited time to detect abuse. We don’t store the recipe on our servers.
Purchases (Apple, Google and RevenueCat)
Subscriptions and credit packs are paid through the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card or billing address. RevenueCat, Inc. checks your purchases using an anonymous ID and the store receipt, so Pro works after a reinstall. Purchase records are kept as long as the stores and tax law require.
Crash reports (Sentry), on unless you turn them off
If the app crashes or something fails, a report goes to Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) in the US. It contains the error, your device model, OS and app version, and the screens you went through, with web addresses cut down to the site name. It contains no recipes, rules, names or email. Reports are kept for 90 days. Turn them off in Profile → Data & Privacy → Send crash reports.
Anonymous usage stats (PostHog), only if you say yes
After setup we ask once whether you’d like to share anonymous usage stats. Only if you agree, the app sends counts like “a recipe import succeeded” or “Cook Mode was finished” to PostHog, Inc. in the US, with a random ID that isn’t linked to you. It never includes what the recipe was or what your rules are. These are kept for 12 months. Change your mind any time in Profile → Data & Privacy → Anonymous usage stats.
Problem reports from testers
Test versions of the app (for people helping us before release) have a “Report a problem” button; the version in the app stores doesn’t. A report includes your message, the screen you were on, your app version and device model, and anything you choose to add: an email address or a screenshot. It goes to Sentry and is kept for 90 days.
Rating a swap
If you rate an ingredient swap (thumbs up or down, optionally a reason and a star rating), we receive which swap it was, your rating, the app version and a random ID. We use it to show better swaps over time. It never includes the recipe or your rules.
Cooking counts for recipe creators
We tell recipe creators how often their recipes are saved, cooked or adapted, only as totals for at least 20 people, and with nothing about who those people are or what they eat. Turn this off in Profile → Data & Privacy → Share anonymous cooking counts with recipe creators.
Backup and share links (Supabase)
If you sign in to back up your recipes or create a share link, Supabase, Inc. stores your account email, the recipes you back up or share, and your credit balance, in the US. You can delete your account and backups from the app at any time.
Reminders
The reminder before a free trial ends is scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to us.
4. This website
- The waitlist. If you join, your email address goes to Kit (Kit.com, Inc., US), which we use to send the invite and launch news. Kit also records when you signed up and which form you used, and your IP address. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Recipe creators. If you join the Creator Program or ask us not to import your recipes, we keep your email and your handle or site so we can do what you asked.
- Visit statistics. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify or follow you. We see totals, such as how many people visited and which site sent them.
- Hosting. Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and protects it from attacks, which involves processing your IP address briefly.
This website sets no cookies.
5. What we never do
- show ads, or use advertising IDs or ad networks
- sell your personal information, or share it for targeted advertising
- use your recipes or rules to train AI models
- track you across other companies’ apps or websites
6. Your allergies and diets
We treat your Kitchen Rules as health information. They stay on your phone. The only time any of it leaves is the rule labels sent with an adaptation you ask for (section 3), without your name. They are never sent to crash reporting or analytics.
7. How long we keep things
- Things on your phone: until you delete them.
- AI requests: not kept by us. Google’s retention is in section 3.
- Crash and problem reports: 90 days.
- Usage stats: 12 months.
- Waitlist and creator emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Purchase records: as long as the app stores and tax law require.
8. Your choices and rights
In the app you can export your whole cookbook, delete all your data, and switch crash reports, usage stats and creator counts on or off. You can also email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you, or to correct, delete or receive a copy of it. We reply within 30 days. Most of your data never reaches us, so often the answer is that we hold nothing.
If you live in the EU or UK, you can also object to how we use your data, and complain to your data protection authority. If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know, delete and correct, and the right to opt out of sale or sharing. We don’t sell or share, so there’s nothing to opt out of. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.
9. Why we’re allowed to use it (EU and UK)
- To provide the app and process purchases: because you asked us to (contract).
- Usage stats, the waitlist and creator emails: your consent, which you can withdraw.
- Crash reports and site security: our legitimate interest in an app that works and is safe, which you can switch off.
- Purchase records: legal obligations.
10. Where your data is processed
We are a US company, and the services above process data in the United States. Where the law requires, transfers rely on the providers’ standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
11. Children
Ajimi isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. Parents can add a child’s dietary needs to their household. That stays on the parent’s phone (section 2).
12. Security
Everything sent between the app and these services is encrypted in transit. Your phone’s own protections secure what is stored on it. No system is perfectly secure, and we’ll tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.
13. Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll also tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
